This old trestle is something I could walk over again and again.
I could also just stand and watch the river run under it. Somewhere under the bridge the water changes from lazy to energetic. Normally I just drive over this bridge with all the other traffic and look longingly at the trestle. The view from the trestle includes creative artwork, and on this day I'm not sure what I was witnessing.
I don't even want to know how they got the rope around the pipe. Although I watched them for several minutes, I don't know the purpose of the board bouncing in the water.
On the other hand, it makes complete sense once you see the sign warning that the river may rise unexpectedly. Plus there was the "River Closed" sign on the other side of the trestle. Of course a couple of young men will come up with some hair-brained idea; this is the perfect environment!
These nice stairs lead down to the river, but you can't get to them from the trail. Well, I guess you could if you really wanted to badly enough. I suspect those two yay-hoos walked on the little path traveling under the trestle.
One last look before heading back to the parking lot.

I really enjoyed this post: the photos, and the commentary. You were having fun. I'd guess your comment about "creative artwork" was tongue-in-cheek...personally, I can't stand any graffiti. And yup, there are always a bunch of yahoos who screw around and then mess up and someone will have to try to save them from their own stupidity! Eventually some bureaucrat, fearing a lawsuit, will get a law passed that no one go over, under or sideways across that trestle.

I really like that first image in the post.
ReplyDeleteI love places like this - very nice photos. The angles in that second one are perfect!
ReplyDeleteHmm, maybe they were planning on using the board like a surfboard. Whatever the plan it probably wasn't the safest of ventures.
ReplyDeleteThat trestle is fantastic Cheryl, it has to be fun to explore.
