Train Trestle Terrain

An old train trestle has been inviting me to visit for several years. Last weekend I was by myself; the weather was exceedingly beautiful; and before I realized I had decided to stop, I was out of the car and walking.
The Cedar River Trail is a little over 17 miles long and passes through the towns of Renton, Maplewood, Cedar Mountain, Maple Valley, and Rock Creek where another trail kicks in and continues on into some valley. I was in the Maple Valley area.
"Dog Pot" or not, I don't stray off paths and onto grassy areas for fear of stepping into a Calling Card left by someone's pet. I did not meet one dog, but couldn't help wondering if people pick up after all their pets.
These equestrians has just moved their mounts off the trail -- another and perhaps bigger reason to never wander onto grassy areas. I wondered if the lady wanted to sit in the shade for a little while, or if this was a "Horse Pot" area.

  1. That looks like a really beautiful trail but I think with the horses around I would be inclined to stay off the grassy areas too.

  2. Can you imagine if horse riders had to 'pick up' after their mounts? LOL!!

  3. Oh wow! This must be part of the national Rails to Trails program! It's just gorgeous! We have some Rails to Trails here in Florida but other states have more. We used to ride bikes in Minnesota...one of the Rails to Trails goes 70 miles through the gorgeous country in southern Minnesota. And during the winter they were used by skiers.

  4. This trail reminds me of the St Marks Trail here, except that I think it has a separate trail running parallel to it for horses. I think I would stay out of the grassy area on this one too!
